indi FORDE…singer, songwriter, amazing guitarist….
What makes Indi Forde different from all the other singer-songwriters around is that this 21 year old has not only been gifted with a truly unique, distinctive voice and a talent for writing catchy, eclectic songs, but Indi is also something of guitar hero.
Born of a Barbadian dad and English mum in Luton, England, Indi always aspired to be the lead guitarist in a band. Having given a cheap guitar at the age of 11 he taught himself to play confining himself and his playing to the walls of his bedroom. After a couple of years, as he constructed his own style of playing, developing – “a range of chord changes, I didn’t know existed” (Midge Ure), Indi started to combine melodies with lyrics that expressed an unrequited love which eventually developed into a repertoire of some 30 to 40 songs.
On a trip to Bath to play some gigs, the rumour that Indi not only played amazing guitar, but also had a collection of catchy songs accompanied with an astonishing vocal came to the attention of local production company Lenin & McCarthy, who knew potential when they heard it having helped in the careers of many international selling arists…
Play acoustically, Indi supported the likes of Willie Mason, gaining a fantastic reaction from an otherwise cold crowd, while also working in the studio with various producers including Sam Williams (Supergrass etc) recording his repertoire and developing his own sound and direction.
Having honed a backing band consisting of rhythm guitarist, bass and drum, Indi Forde’s live shows feature tracks from his forthcoming debut album SilverScreens, produced by talented up and coming London based producer Nick Rundall. Contributing on this classic debut is the legendary drummer Clive Deamer, formerly Portishead, Ronnie Size etc., now with Robert Plant. Jim Barr, also formerly Portishead, has also contributed on bass guitar.
